A Little Homesick
We had a fun weekend on September 26th-27th when we went on an overnight trip to Udon Thani, Thailand in order to renew our visas, do doctor check-ups, get the car fixed, and do some shopping.
At the mall, Jonas and Deacon enjoyed riding on several different coin-operated kiddie rides. The cutest one was this little tuk-tuk that they could ride in together:

Jonas was the driver and Deacon was the passenger, next to some strange plastic person. The tuk-tuk goes forward and backward while also rotating slowly in a circle.

I think they rode this one two or three times. It cost 10 baht each time.

After the rides, we each enjoyed a 10 baht ice cream cone (about 35 cents each).
Knowing we wouldn’t be back in Thailand for at least a month, we bought Jonas a bicycle for his 4th birthday that is coming up on October 25th. He chose a Batman bicycle, and we had the workers at the store put training wheels on it for us.

When we were driving away from the store, I asked him, “Do you know why we bought you a bicycle today?”
Jonas said, “No.”
“Because you are going to have your birthday really soon. So we bought you the Batman bicycle for your birthday.”
Jonas replied, “And on my birthday, I will have cake, and a robot, and a watch.”
Hmmm…
Jonas had such a fun weekend that he didn’t want to go to school on Monday. He said he wanted to go back to Nana’s house (in America) and Sean’s school (the name of one of his friends at school in Alabama).
Jonas said that “everybody hits me” at his new school. Of course this really concerned us. We have no way of knowing if his classmates are actually hitting him or not. I wrote a note to his teacher, Ms. Ellen, and she didn’t notice it the first day. Today is Wednesday so hopefully I will receive a reply.
Please remember Jonas. This is the first time he has exhibited any kind of homesickness. It really breaks my heart.
